Hypoganadism

1. : functional incompetence of the gonads especially in the male with subnormal or impaired production of hormones and germ cells
2. : an abnormal condition (as Klinefelter's syndrome) involving gonadal incompetence

Hypoganadism is testicular failure. Men develop testicular suppression with decreased libido, impotence, decreased ejaculate volume, loss of body and facial hair, weakness, fatigue and often anemia. When patients are tested for this, it shows that blood levels of testosterone are low and should be replaced. Testosterone may be given as intramuscular injection, a patch form, or a gel preparation.

Some symptoms of Hypoganadism are:

• Impotence
• Decreased libido, or sexual desire
• Fatigue and loss of energy
• Reduction of secondary sexual characteristics
• Osteoporosis
