Women on HRT and AlcoholWomen who are on HRT shouldn't drink alcohol because it has been recently discovered that it can dramatically raise their likelihood of developing the most common kind of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide.More than a million cases occur each year and about 400,000 women die of the disease, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France. Having a family history of breast cancer, an early puberty, late menopause, obesity and not having children can increase the risk of developing the illness. For women who are on HRT for the relief of menopausal symptoms, it is strongly recommended that they stay away from alcohol to help increase their odds of avoiding breast cancer.
