Heart DiseaseHeart disease results from the buildup of fatty deposits on major coronary arteries. These plaques build up and thicken until they eventually cut off all blood supply to the artery, resulting in a heart attack. Plaque is mainly made from cholesterol and high cholesterol increases the risk of heart attack. Aspirin is the best medication for heart attacks, yet it has no effect on cholesterol.Soft plaques are plaque build ups that may not be very large, but they are prone to rupture. These still are considered very dangerous buildups. The incidence of heart disease is on the rise due to people ignoring the underlying cause; inflammation of the arteries. Silent inflammation is caused by an increased production of the bad eicosanoids. Taking an aspirin a day just won't reduce all the risks associated with heart disease. The first step is prevention. The Zone Diet is a good way to begin. Also see coronary heart disease for more information.
