DisogeninDisogenin is derived from the wild yam plants and is used in making the bio-identical sex steroid hormones estradiol and progesterone. The conversion must be done in a lab because the body is unable to convert the compound into the sex steroid hormones.Oral contraceptives and sex hormones are derived from Disogenin. It is also the base molecule for progesterone. But it is not a natural hormone, due to the fact that the body cannot convert the compound.
